One of the core elements of being a university with a strong research culture and priority is to strive for excellence by planning and implementing high-quality educational processes. In this context, it has been decided to organize workshops that focus on professional training practices outside the standard curriculum.
The Climate and Environmental Journalism Workshop will be implemented under the coordination of the Academic Development Coordination Office, executed by the Marmara Media Center Coordination, and in collaboration with Anadolu Agency’s Yeşilhat Unit.
Objective:
- To learn and gain practical competence in news gathering and writing methods.
- To understand and apply practices of sustainable communication that are strategically important for achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Goals and the five main axes of Turkey’s 12th Development Plan.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understands the concept of thematic journalism.
- Knows what climate and environmental journalism entails.
- Learns about its practices in Turkey and around the world.
- Gains mastery over the news production processes in climate and environmental journalism.
- Acquires skills to access reliable sources in climate and environmental journalism.
Duration: 8 Weeks

Training Dates: Fall 2024 – Spring 2025
Participation Requirements and Notes:
- Participation is free of charge.
- Must be a student at Marmara University, Faculty of Communication.
- Regular attendance and production-oriented engagement are essential.
- Participants who meet the attendance and production requirements will receive a MMM Workshop Certificate of Participation.
- Each session of the workshop will last between 40 minutes to 1 hour.
