The certificate ceremony for the 2024–2025 academic year of Marmara Media Center, operating under the Faculty of Communication at Marmara University, was held with the participation of our Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Babacan, Vice Deans, academic staff, industry representatives, and students. During the ceremony, students who worked part-time at the Marmara Media Center received their certificates, and appreciation certificates were presented to the trainers of the workshops held throughout the academic year, while participation certificates were awarded to the student attendees.
The ceremony began with an opening speech by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Babacan, who emphasized the requirements of being a research university. Following this, Media Center Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kapır highlighted the importance of practical education in communication and media and the students' contributions to the production process. Sezer Aydın, one of our dedicated students, also delivered a speech on behalf of his peers, sharing his experiences.
A short video titled “What Did We Do This Year?” summarizing the year’s activities and showcasing the production processes of Marmara Media Center students was screened. Afterward, certificates of appreciation were presented to academics and professionals who contributed to the workshops throughout the year by the Dean and Vice Deans. Each academic staff member coordinating a workshop then handed out participation certificates to the eligible students.
The workshop programs featured hands-on training in diction, digital content production, social media, graphic design, media literacy, climate and environmental journalism, scriptwriting, and news writing. Among the noteworthy projects were the TRT Digital Content Production Workshop, organized in collaboration with TRT, and the Greenline Climate and Environmental Journalism Workshop, conducted in partnership with Anadolu Agency.
A brief introductory session was also held for the newly appointed research assistants who recently joined the Marmara Communication family.
At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented by Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Babacan to Dr. Bahadır Kapır, Head of the Marmara Media Center; Dr. Mustafa Ali Minarlı, Deputy Coordinator; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Kerem İngeç, Institutional Communication Coordinator; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Özay, Coordinator of Marmara Gazete. Certificates were also given to the students who had actively worked at the Media Center throughout the academic year by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kapır.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of Marmara Media Center's commitment to continuing experience-based communication and media education in the upcoming terms.
