The meeting, held in the foyer area of our faculty building, began with a speech by our Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Babacan. The meeting, which continued with the screening of a promotional video regarding the activities held in our faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year, continued with speeches by the Head of the Journalism Department Prof. Dr. Levent Eldeniz, Head of the Public Relations and Publicity Department Prof. Dr. Ebru Özgen and Head of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Kırık.
Following the speeches of our Department Heads, our Faculty's Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Gökçek provided information about the administrative functioning and application units of our faculty:
In his information about the Marmara Media Center, he emphasized that students here can turn their theoretical knowledge into practice, actively participate in different projects and acquire technical equipment, and undertook the coordination of Dr. Lecturer Member Bahardır Kapır. He stated that at Marmara Newspaper, one of the active and most important units of the Marmara Media Center, students can gain knowledge and experience regarding news writing, editing and publication processes under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seçil Özay. Our Vice Dean Gökçek stated that as a requirement of our mission and vision of being a research university, the Academic Development Coordination Office was established at our faculty and that Prof. Dr. Hediyetullah Aydeniz took on the role of coordinator. In addition, Gökçek stated that in order to make our faculty's declaration of will visible, to reinforce institutional belonging and to establish a strong institutional culture, a Institutional Communications Coordination Office was established within our faculty, the coordinator of which is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Kerem İngeç. He also provided information about the Communication Research and Application Laboratory, the research unit of our faculty, coordinated by its head Prof. Dr. Ayda Uzunçarşılı Soydaş, and the laboratory. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Finally, Yusuf Ziya Gökçek provided information about student affairs, department secretaries, student advisors and student groups.
After the coffee break, all our departments organized department orientation meetings in the classrooms reserved for them. In the department orientation meetings attended by department heads and vice heads and academic staff, students were informed about the departments they were studying in.
